Press Room

September is ovarian cancer awareness month. To mark the occasion, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund will host lunches at Governors' mansions and designated event spaces throughout the nation. First Ladies and Governors will participate in the Super Luncheon program. As our distinguished guest, you will hear a leading oncologist speak, meet those battling the disease, ovarian cancer survivors, community leaders, and other supporters like yourself. Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecological cancers in the United States with over 22,000 women diagnose annually and 15,000 losing their lives to the disease. The "Super Luncheons" are being sponsored by the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

About OCRF

OCRF is a 501(c) 3 non-for-profit organization. It was founded in December 1994 by Sol Schreiber to honor the memory of his wife Ann, a distinguised public administrator, and her courageous five year battle with Ovarian Cancer.

Under the leadership of Liz Tilberis, the beloved late editor-in chief of Harper's Bazaar, the worlds of fashion, beauty and entertainment were united around this important cause. As a result, OCRF gained national prominence as an organization committed to changing the course of this deadly disease. Thanks to the ongoing commitment of these industries and the support of countless individuals, OCRF is the leading independent agency dedicated to the advancement of Ovarian Cancer Research in the United States.

OCRF funds research through four different grants programs. Grant applications are reviewed and selections are made by our Scientific Advisory Board, comprised of eleven of the leading gynecological oncologists in the United States. The Board of Directors and our dedicated staff work diligently to educate women about ovarian cancer. We understand it is through educating a woman about ovarian cancer that we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of women who may be at risk. With each new research grant we award, we are one step closer to finding a breakthrough.

We continue to depend on you to help us fund the most promising work that is being done in the area of ovarian cancer. Our educational programs would not be possible without the dedication and compassion of our friends. The mission of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund is to fund research to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.
